Open Research

A one-day conference sharing fresh ideas and good practices for creating and promoting effective RDM practices
St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, UK

Is it possible to achieve better management and universal sharing of the world’s data through mandates alone? Policy change and other top-down approaches are important, but many advocates are also driving change through engaging with researchers directly. This one-day conference featuring workshops, talks and demonstrations will address how advocates are finding increasing success in managing and providing greater access to research data.

The University of Cambridge together with SPARC Europe and Jisc invite you to join us to:

  • Hear success stories from programmes including Cambridge’s Data Champions, TU Delft’s Data Stewardship, and the University of Lancaster’s Data Conversations
  • Discuss with researchers and librarians how many are encouraging others to make data more open.
  • Explore common data management-related challenges faced across the globe
  • Find new opportunities to build a stronger community that includes researchers at all levels, across all disciplines to help manage and share research data more effectively.

We intend to bring together those working to support and engage researchers with open research and Research Data Management (RDM), including librarians, scholarly communication specialists and researchers from both the sciences and humanities.
If you are responsible for a researcher engagement programme, are actively involved and passionate about RDM, or if you are looking to improve RDM practices by working together with  researchers, you will want to attend.

Bookings are now open with an early bird discount! Book here:https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/engaging-researchers-in-good-data-managem...
Paper submission
As well as featuring talks, focus groups and a panel discussion, the event will feature a series of community input talks in the form of lightning talks. We are seeking researchers who have exciting and innovative stories to share about good RDM practices, collaborations and methods of engaging colleagues, or even stories about barriers that had to be overcome and methods for doing this.
If you know researchers who might be interested in speaking about their experience with Research Data Management and sharing, please encourage them to submit an abstract of their talk here https://goo.gl/forms/d6PtSjlsskWvxU4y1
