The Research Data Team (Office of Scholarly Communication, OSC) recently completed their eighth call for Data Champions, and we are happy to announce the successful induction of 22 new Data Champions from this year’s applicants.

We are also happy to be able to say that the reach of our Data Champions continues to grow throughout the University. This year, we are excited to have Data Champions in several new areas: the Department of Social Anthropology, Social Sciences Research Methods Programme (SSRMP), the Faculty of Classics and the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. New Data Champions in these areas can only help to further our goal of advocating for research data sharing and management in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS) disciplines. Additionally, following on from a trend we started noticing last year, more and more Data Champions are interested in how Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning intersect with research data and scholarly communication.

You can find out more about the current Data Champion community of volunteers and their specialist areas on our website.

If you are passionate about research data management and data sharing or you would like to find out more about being a Data Champion, please visit the Data Champions webpage. You can also read more about the Data Champion Forums on the OSC’s Unlocking Research blog. The blog post from March’s session has just been published.

We welcome applications from those working in all academic subjects across AHSS and STEM disciplines. We would especially encourage individuals from the AHSS to get in touch with the Research Data Team.
