A recent article in the magazine of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Chemistry World, called on OSC’s Research Data Manager Clair Castle as a source to help explore ‘How to Organise your Data’.

The article gives six expert tips:

  • plan for publication
  • create a standardised system
  • prepare appropriate metadata
  • backup regularly
  • use an electronic lab notebook, and
  • ask for help.

Taking the time to plan how to organise and manage data is “time well spent and an investment in your research. It really will make life easier for yourself and others,” Clair says.
