The Journal of Electronic Publishing is seeking papers on Open Research for the Humanities and Social Sciences (AHSS) for a special issue.
Open research as it has emerged from scientific communities does not always neatly fit into AHSS working practices or research cultures. While openness is practised in AHSS, it is typically more concerned with experimentation, remixing and collaboration over more scientific ideas of transparency and replicability. Does AHSS need its own concept of openness, or is its relationship with it more complex?
For this issue, the Journal would like to receive articles on topics which could include humanistic critiques of open research, critical reflections on HSS research in practice, open research futures, how far open research can blur the distinction between research and publishing practices, or how far it can expand upon the very idea of publishing through a range of digital practices.
Abstracts are due by 30 January 2025 and should be addressed to the special issue editor Dr Samuel A Moore via sam214@cam.ac.uk. Full papers of accepted abstracts are due by 15 May 2025.
See the Journal’s website for full information.
