In recent years, greater attention has been paid to the self-organised research communities who publish their own journals and publishing projects. Across Cambridge there is a flourishing ecosystem of DIY projects across all disciplines in the University, ranging from student-led publications to journals organised by academic departments to those hosted within the library.
The next Cambridge Open Research Conference therefore aims to focus on community-led publishing across Cambridge and beyond. Plans are in development, but the event is expected to take place in spring 2025. As plans stand, it will feature sessions from practitioners and service providers of community-led publishing in the morning, and a practical workshop for how researchers can publish their own journals in the afternoon.
