Open Research

The University of Cambridge is to develop an integration between DSpace repositories and OpenAlex, which is a free, open catalogue of the world’s scholarly research systems. This project is in partnership with D-space provider 4Science, and has the support of the Vietsch Foundation.

The integration will allow for the quick import of relevant research and scholarly (meta)data into DSpace repositories. Reusing the data in OpenAlex will help institutions improve the quality and completeness of data in their repositories, and strengthen the wider open access network by increasing the number of versions and access points to content. Moreover, the availability of multiple (open access) copies of the materials can provide a more effective strategy for long-term preservation.
